Frank A. Ortiz

Attorney Frank A. Ortiz is the founding member of Ortiz & Ortiz L.L.P.  Admitted to practice in New York in 1959, Frank has over 50 years of experience as a civil and criminal trial lawyer.  He earned his undergraduate degree from the City College of New York in 1953 and, after completing his service as an infantry officer, went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School in 1958.  His main areas of practice include:

  • Business and Corporate Matters

Frank has represented hundreds of defendants in criminal cases in State and Federal district courts throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico.  He frequently receives referrals from other attorneys and is actively involved in many civic and community groups.

Norma Ortiz

Attorney Norma E. Ortiz has been practicing law in New York since 1988 and New Jersey since 1994.  A strong litigator, Norma joined her father's legal practice in 1998 after working for the U.S. Department of Justice Trustee's Office and a bankruptcy judge in Manhattan.  She provides attentive, individualized service to businesses and consumers in Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 bankruptcy.  Her other practice areas are:

In 1984, Norma received her B.A. in International Relations and Urban Legal Studies from the City College of New York.  She earned her Juris Doctorate from the New York University School of Law in 1987.  Norma is a founding member of the Association of Latina Lawyers and is a board member of the Puerto Rican Bar Association.   Norma is also the chairperson of the Bankruptcy Committee of the New York Bar Association.  In addition to both her practice and her participation in various associations, Norma also prepares lectures and conducts training for other attorneys on bankruptcy law and practice.  She has been interviewed by news networks New York 1 and CNN as an expert in Bankruptcy law.

Leitha M. Ortiz-Lesh, Of Counsel

Attorney Leitha M. Ortiz-Lesh has been practicing law in New York for over 15 years.  Leitha earned her Juris Doctorate from New York Law School in 1995.  Leitha soon joined the office of McCarl & Harris, Esqs., where she worked for several years defending personal injury actions for two major insurance carriers.  In 2003, she joined the law office of Ortiz & Ortiz, L.L.P., expanding her area of practice to include Bankruptcy, Wills and Probate, Family Law, and Real Estate.  In 2006, Ms. Ortiz took a position with New York Life Insurance Company as a Financial Services Professional and Insurance Agent.  Limited by what services she could provide to her clients as an agent, Leitha founded her own practice, where she could more effectively help people deal with a variety of personal and legal issues.  Leitha opened her practice in 2008 using the knowledge, tools, and resources she acquired as an attorney, a financial services professional, and an insurance agent to fully realize her passion for helping people at all levels of estate and business planning.  Leitha is admitted to practice in the Eastern and Southern District Courts of the State of New York.
